With a florist for a future Mother-in-Law, I didn’t need to look far when it came to organising my own wedding! The only problem was Jane lives in Cheshunt and our wedding was in Leeds.
We viewed the venue as a family, mainly because we had no experience of the hotel between us. Jane instantly got her work head on and mentioned things that could be done to enhance the venue – flowers up the balustrades of the central staircase, ribbon and lights on the olive trees outside the entrance, tall vases on the large round tables, pedestals that could be moved around the room as we use need them, for the ceremony, then the meal and then the evening do…
With no real flower knowledge and with an endless list of other jobs that I needed to concentrate on, I simply gave Jane my colour scheme that I wanted to go with and asked her to come up with suggestions. Jane sourced 10 tall vases for the centre pieces that would sit on circular mirrors, using gel she enclosed flickering lights up the inner vase to create a lovely ambience at the table. She chose a selection of purple calla lilies, lisianthus and freesia broken up with ivory avalanche roses. These were repeated in the bouquets, button holes and pedestals.
Jane brought all the flowers up to Leeds on the eve of the wedding and she and the team tirelessly worked throughout the day and evening to complete all the flowers in time for my big day. The hotel kept them in a store room overnight to ensure their safety. I couldn’t have been happier. I was so overwhelmed with the overall arrangements, how good they looked and how lovely they smelt, even the pins holding the bouquets in place matched my jewellery and tiara, and the tiniest details demonstrated the love and attention to detail across all aspects of the wedding flowers.
Admittedly, I’m not a bridezilla, I didn’t have any expectations of what I wanted AND the florist is my MIL so in theory I can’t say anything bad about her work. However, like every bride I wanted my wedding to be perfect and for all the planned finishing touches to come together to create a beautiful atmosphere, the venue to look amazing and for the rest of the wedding party and guests to love it too.
I only have good things to say, having seen Jane work and the weddings she has done since (2 of my friends chose Flowers by Amanda Jane to do their weddings too). So if you live in the Hertfordshire area and are in need of an amazing florist for your wedding, give Jane a call – I guarantee you won’t be disappointed.
